I’m going to start off by assuming you are addicted to 'Parks and Recreation' and '30 Rock', or are at least still recovering from a past addiction. I’m also going to assume you questioned why there was never a (much-desired) crossover episode with besties Tina Fey and Amy Pohler. Oh boy, imagine if they were sisters in that episode too! Okay, okay, I’ll stop fan-girling out over here. But if you’re on the same page as me, strap yourself in for some seriously good times with their big-screen collaboration 'Sisters'.
Maura (Amy Pohler) and Kate (Tina Fey) are siblings, with the former being uptight and the latter being of questionably loose morals but somehow also a mother. Their parents decide to sell their house to downsize for their retirement, and the girls are forced to clean out their childhood rooms. Known in their day as legendary party throwers, they decide to throw one last celebration to farewell the house - what else could you do?!
SWITCH: 'SISTERS' TRAILER
We are all familiar with the uptight and highly strung performances Pohler is famous for, and let's be honest we are used to a very similar style of acting/character from Fey as well. But this fantastically changes in ‘Sister’ - well at least for Fey; she is irresponsible and full of bad decisions - refreshingly so! Being the fan girl I am, I’m just happy to see Pohler do her thing. I have, no joke, re-watched most of their work over and over again. For those of you familiar with their cannon, you will also recognise a slue of their co-stars from 'SNL' days right through to '30 Rock'. I like that - it's like an easter egg with familiar friends coming back to party with you.
The funniest moments are definitely not crammed into the trailer.
I haven’t laughed so hard in a movie since ‘Spy’ and unlike some of their past films, the funniest moments are definitely not crammed into the trailer (thus not ruining the movie). I actually think there was someone near me literally thigh-slapping and clapping throughout the whole thing. Not to name names, but he might also be a writer you are familiar with from the SWITCH team.
It was Daniel.
It’s going to be hard for people not to have a great time watching 'Sisters', and it's definitely the funnier and more adult of the summer releases. It’s genuinely well-written, well-acted, funny (did I mention that already?), and has a huge amount of heart. So have a glass or two of Pinot Grigio, sit back, and set your face to laugh – there is no way you wont enjoy this one!
