In 1947, the successful career of prolific screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston, in an Academy Award-nominated performance) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs. Trumbo tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren, 'The Woman in Gold') and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.
With an all-star cast that also includes Diane Lane, John Goodman, Louis C.K. and Elle Fanning, 'Trumbo' is a witty, spirited leap back to the Golden Age of Hollywood, and an insight into the man behind some of the era’s most beloved films.
