BIG DAY OUT - 2013 ANNOUNCEMENT
Charlie David Page
By Charlie David Page, 16th July 2012
It's considered by most to be the country's biggest music festival - and with this year's Big Day Out under new management - there's a new "creative partnership" with C3 Presents, the guys behind Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits - there's plenty of anticipation for what's in store for BDO 2013.

The first announcement has been a long-discussed rumour, proven to be fact by a short yet mildly disturbing video (which can be found on this page): Red Hot Chili Peppers will be playing Big Day Out, in what will be their only Australian performances. It's been five years since their last tour to Australia.

This was soon followed by the main announcement, which revealed the other main headline for the festival would be The Killers.

In addition to the two big names was an extensive list of bands who have graced our shores before - including the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, Animal Collective, Foals, Sleigh Bells, Alabama Shakes and Crystal Castles - along with a number of newcomers.

The festival will also showcase some Aussie talent, with rockers Grinspoon making an appearance, along with Melbourne rapper 360 and Sydney duo Toucan.

This year's dates would also be a little different to previous years, with details last week that Sydney would get the first Big Day Out for 2013 on Friday 18th January, followed by Gold Coast on Sunday 20th January, Adelaide on Friday 25th January, Melbourne on Saturday 26th January and Perth on Monday 28th January.

Tickets go on sale this Thursday 19th July 2012 and can be purchased from www.bigdayout.com. Some General Pants Co. stores are also offering pre-sales.
