COYOTE vs ACME

In 2023, Warner Bros. announced that three titles - 'Batgirl', 'Scoob! Holiday Haunt' and 'Coyote vs Acme' - would not be released but were going to be claimed as a tax write-off. While the other two titles were still in post-production, 'Coyote vs Acme' had been completed. The studio that still released 'The Flash' in theatres worldwide was, understandably, heavily criticised for this decision, and quickly a campaign began to release the film. It was reported that studios like Netflix, Amazon, and Paramount all bid for the film but were rejected by Warner Bros. because the amounts were too low. In 2025, Ketchup Entertainment, which also saved 'Looney Tunes: The Day The Earth Blew Up', began talks with Warner and successfully acquired the rights to the film. 'Coyote vs Acme' was saved - but was it ever worth saving?

SWITCH: 'COYOTE vs ACME' TRAILER

The film follows Wile E. Coyote, who is tired of failing to catch the Road Runner. When he sees an ad for Avery, Jones & Maltese, a law firm specialising in cartoon violence cases, Wile E. Coyote decides to sue the Acme corporation for all the failed traps he has purchased from them over the years. Lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte, 'Strays', 'Nebraska') takes on case, along with intern Paige (Lana Condor, 'To All. theBoys' franchise, 'Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken'), they soon discover there is much more to the case and that Acme might be covering up a massive secret.

'Coyote vs Acme' was absolutely worth saving. It is not only a love letter to the 'Looney Tunes' franchise, but also a culturally relevant piece about corporations. While the film was always about a major corporation trying to silence a smaller one, its journey from creation to release is almost poetic, making the release all the more triumphant.

There are a lot of characters who appear from the world, and none feel like cheap cameos. Like every other aspect of the film, it's handled with such care, and everyone feels well taken care of throughout.

While the journey to release does add a bittersweet layer to 'Coyote vs Acme', the film is more than proves itself without knowing the ironic backstory. The animation is stunning, and while I prefer the 'Looney Tunes' in a more traditional 2D style, the film perfectly captures the essence of the 2D versions while putting them in new 3D models, it feels like the evolution of what we have seen in 'Space Jam' and 'Looney Tunes: Back in Action'. It's truly 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' for the 21st century, both in technology and story. The comedy is perfect from our animated characters, and both Forte and a truly fantastic John Cena ('Argylle', 'Fast X') bring a lot of fun and life to this animated world.

The film also handles the Looney Tunes characters and world very tastefully. There are a lot of characters who appear from the world, and none feel like cheap cameos. Like every other aspect of the film, it's handled with such care, and everyone feels well taken care of throughout.

'Coyote vs Acme' is a triumph; just getting to see the film released is enough reason to celebrate, but then to watch it and see this beautiful love letter to the Looney Tunes in a beautiful, poignant modern story is an absolute meep-meep success. See it in theatres, see it in theatres, see it in theatres!
