Japanese Wallpaper - Japanese Wallaper EP
OUT NOW
If you're looking for electronic music you can relax to, the tunes of Japanese Wallpaper are the perfect remedy. Behind the polished, professional sound is Gab Strum, just 17 years old, and completing his final high school exams this year - on top of a national tour and performance at Splendour In The Grass. He's also releasing his self-titled EP, featuring a collection of exquisite, elating tracks.

Strum has collaborated with some superb singers to perfectly compliment his already exemplary work. From Airling to Jinja Safari co-frontman Pepa Knight to up-and-coming Adelaide musician Jesse Davidson (currently touring with Art Of Sleeping) to Dutch artist Wafia, Strum takes his dreamy music and layers it with lush vocals, creating a final product guaranteed to leave you in a state of peace and serenity.

'BETWEEN FRIENDS' - JAPANESE WALLPAPER FEAT. JESSE DAVIDSON

Opening track 'Between Friends' sets the scene for the EP perfectly. Starting with a child-like xylophone and slowly growing with keys and loops, much of the song's appeal lies in its repetitive simplicity - a standard trait for electronic music - yet Jesse Davidson's gorgeous vocals adorn the tune, giving it an exceptional element.

Likewise, the feminine touches on 'Breathe In' and 'Forces' (Wafia and Airling respectively) bring a beauty to the gentle sounds; the latter particularly surpasses your stock-standard love song to become a gentle reflection laced with restraint.

This light, airy self-titled EP redefines the way we think about electronic music. Sit back, relax, and take in the sumptuous sounds of Japanese Wallpaper.
