Penniless and landed with a 5-year-old son to look after, Alain goes to stay with his sister in Antibes and starts looking for work. At a nightclub he meets Stephanie (Cotillard), a killer whale trainer at the local Marineland Water Park. Alain is fascinated by her, but Stephanie isn’t interested in him, until she suffers a tragic accident that leaves her disabled. An unusual, physical and codified relationship develops between them.
