Jeff (Jason Segel) is 30, unemployed, lives at home and his favourite movie is ‘Signs’. Jeff also believes that the universe sends you signs that set you on your path, so when he picks up a wrong number call asking for Kevin, Jeff is led on a journey that lands him right in the middle of his brother Pat’s (Ed Helms) life on the day his marriage begins to fall apart.
Jason Segel has taken his big and goofish yet oddly subtle presence to new levels as he tackles this more subdued comedy with his effortless charm. Susan Sarandon is ever the graceful, elegant and beautiful actor we’ve come to love, and Ed Helms and Judy Greer round-out this superb cast.
This simple and unassuming tale is about getting the world to see you as you are, and not being disappointed in not being who others want or expect you to be. Jeff is the person we all want to be as we watch him before the hero of this story, in more ways than one. ‘Jeff’ is laced with sincerity and spirituality with an emotional and thought-provoking edge that will reaffirm your faith in human nature and the universe. Engaging at every turn, this film is well worth leaving home for.
