With such an optimistic title, you couldn't expect a more contrasting collection of songs. Kicking off with the rambunctious 'C'mon Man You're Dead', Beck's songwriting skills come into full force, with a western ballad perfectly juxtaposed with Beck's sweet, soaring voice.
Other distinctive standouts include 'Mary Jane', a rollicking tune with aggressive acoustic guitar that ebbs and flows for the duration. Then there's 'Bang Bang Bang', where Beck is killing us with kindness; this sweetly sung ditty is the closest to a country track on the EP.
Given what Sahara Beck has already achieved in her short career, it's enough to make the rest of us feel like we're wasting our time. The potential that shines from 'You Could Be Happy' should, at the least, intrigue music fans. Without a doubt, should she continue upon the same path, this young woman has a bright future ahead.
